Suggesting a Purchase
Libary patrons are welcome to suggest titles for purchase.
- Before placing a purchase request, please search the catalogue to make sure we do not already have the item.
- If the title is more than two years old, an inter-library loan may be the preferred option.
All purchases must meet our collection management plan.
If we decide to proceed with a purchase, the item will be reserved on your account, and you will receive an email or SMS notification when it is ready for collection.
If a purchase is not made, we’ll leave a message on your library account to let you know.
For more help, and to make sure we have your correct contact details, please contact your local library.

Recommending a Donation
Donations form a small part of the Library’s collection, and we regret we cannot accept donations without prior approval.
- Please contact your local library to discuss new or used items in good condition. Approval is not automatic.
- The library does not accept unsolicited donations of self-published materials.
Exceptions may be made for local authors and/or self-publishers, provided the item is consistent with our collection development policy. Authors or publishers may email the details of the item they wish to donate to collections@ncgrl.vic.gov.au. The library reserves the right to decline the offer of a donation if it does not deem it suitable for inclusion in the collection.
