Goldfields Libraries is excited to share that beloved children’s author Andy Griffiths will make his first official public appearance as the Australian Children’s Laureate for 2026 and 2027… in Bendigo in March!
Best known for his iconic Treehouse and Just! series, Andy has written 43 books and counting and continues to inspire young readers with his trademark humour, silliness and wildly imaginative storytelling.
His newest project, Let’s Go!, created with illustrator Bill Hope, will be released later this month. As Andy describes it, he was inspired to create Let’s Go! to help spread the joys of creative reading, writing, drawing and laughter during his term as Australian Children’s Laureate. It’s a collection of stories, poems, cartoons and comic strips to inspire children (and adults!) to have fun exploring and expanding their own imaginative worlds.
Goldfields Libraries, in partnership with the Australian Children’s Laureate Foundation and with support from the City of Greater Bendigo, will host Andy’s first stop on the national launch tour. Andy will bring his signature energy to a lively and interactive family session at Bendigo Town Hall, celebrating the joy of stories. Expect laughs, creativity, and plenty of fun for the whole family.
The session will also feature live illustration from artist Bill Hope, adding an extra layer of magic to the afternoon.
An Auslan interpreter will be present, and families are invited to stay afterwards for book sales, signings, and to meet both Andy and Bill.
