Author, award-winning film critic and journalist Paul Byrnes will visit Bendigo Library this month to speak about his new book The Lost Boys: The untold stories of the under-age soldiers who foug­ht in the First World War.

Works to refurbish the Castlemaine Library are almost complete and the upgraded library on Mechanics Lane will reopen at 10.00am on Wednesday 20 November.

A pop-up library has been located at the historic Market Building in Mostyn Street since July.

Kangaroo Flat Library is turning 40 on Wednesday September 25, 2019, and we want you to help us celebrate! Festivities will include a photographic display, a celebration cake, balloons, birthday stories, party hats to craft, face painting by Pass-the-Parcel, badge-making and a special birthday storytime!

The tour provides a wonderful opportunity for regional children to experience high quality live theatre free of charge, and Stage School Australia students the experience of a regional tour.

“Works to replace the library floor will start in July so we’re taking this opportunity to bury a time capsule while the floor is removed,” said Jess Saunders, Castlemaine Library Manager.

In recognition of Refugee Week (16-22 June), trauma counsellor Christine Cummins will visit Gisborne, Bendigo and Castlemaine libraries to talk about her latest book Dignity in a Teacup – detailing her experiences working with asylum seekers on Christmas Island.

Works to upgrade the Castlemaine Library will begin in July to make the space more accessible, safer and flexible for patrons.

The upgrade includes renewal of the structural floor, replacement of old shelves, installation of mobile shelves and other works.

Castlemaine Library Manager Jess Saunders said the team is very excited about the upcoming changes.

Social Seniors is a series of free workshops designed around using technology to socialise and make connections with others.
