The Woodend Library in conjunction with the Woodend RSL will ‘create’ a field of crafted red poppies at the Woodend Clock tower and Woodend Library to mark the ANZAC Centenary on the 25 April 2015.

The tribute is part of the 5000 poppies project, a nationwide community crafting project that began in Melbourne in 2013.

Historian and Biographer, Ross McMullin will visit Eaglehawk and Heathcote libraries in the lead up to the ANZAC Centenary to discuss his book Farewell Dear People: Biographies of Australia’s Lost Generation.

The Bendigo Autism Asperger Group (BAAG) has donated a variety of books and DVD’s to the Goldfields Library Corporation with the new resources now available to borrow.

BAAG is a local support group run by volunteers for individuals and families interested in or affected by Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD’s).

The Goldfields Library Corporation is inviting the community to have their say about library services in the Loddon Shire and City of Greater Bendigo throughout March.

The Corporation is currently reviewing how best to deliver services to remote and rural communities in a way that suits people’s needs.

Castlemaine Library will be hosting a free e-book expo on Saturday 28 February.

The expo will include information sessions on the different types of eBook readers available plus demonstrations on how to use them and how to access Goldfields Libraries online resources.

Alzheimer’s Australia’s Carolyne Taplin will present two sessions at the Bendigo Library in February exploring how memory works and what you can do to maximise your brain health.

CEO for the Goldfields Library Corporation, Chris Kelly says that libraries are great place to ‘work out’ to keep your brain healthy.

The redeveloped Bendigo Library will celebrate its first birthday on Wednesday January 28.

The library has been a hit with residents, with staff processing 6,744 new memberships and 4,406 people reactivating their memberships by the end of last year.

Choose your own adventure at the Goldfields Libraries this summer

Goldfields Libraries invite children and families to participate in the Summer Reading Club from Monday 15 December 2014 to Friday 30 January 2015.
