Calling all writers!
Goldfields Libraries and Eaglehawk Festivals Inc. are calling for entries from writers all over Australia for the annual Mulga Bill Writing Award.
Take inspiration from the theme ‘Harvest’ and showcase your talents. Whether you’re an experienced storyteller or aspiring writer, this is your chance to shine!
Prizes will be awarded to the best two in each category.
Short Story
Up to 2,000 words.
Judge: Local editor, proofreader and literary conversations moderator Cecile Shanahan.
- First Prize: $500
- Second Prize: $150
Poetry
Up to 25 lines.
Judge: Local poet, poetry teacher and songwriter Amanda Collins.
- First Prize: $200
- Second Prize: $50
Entries close Monday, 2 March 2026, with winners to be announced at the Eaglehawk Dahlia and Arts Festival in March.
