Share the Love on Library Lovers Day!

Thursday 28 January 2016

Romance novel lovers are in for a treat with two renowned Australian authors featuring in this year’s Library Lovers Day celebrations at Goldfields Libraries.

Highly acclaimed author Carmel Bird will read from her recently published short story collection, My Hearts Are Your Hearts. Local cellist Libby Anderson will also present a short program of romantic music. The event will be hosted by Castlemaine Library on Thursday 11 February from 6pm.

Popular historical romance writer Beverley Eikli will run a romance writing workshop featuring the historical Georgian era and tips on self-publishing. The event will be hosted by Gisborne Library on Thursday 11 February from 6-8pm.

Entry is free for both events and bookings can be made via www.ncgrl.vic.gov.au/librarylovers

“Library Lovers Day is a fun way of connecting with the community to promote awareness of what the library is all about,” says Tammy Higgs, Goldfields Libraries Programs and Events Coordinator.

“In January we invited the community to vote for their favourite read of all time in our Dearly Beloved Reads program. We are looking forward to announcing the top 40 shortlist to celebrate Library Lovers Day.”

Ever tried a “blind date with a book”? Now’s your chance as part of Library Lovers Day! A selection of adult fiction and non-fiction titles will be wrapped and available to readers at all Goldfields Libraries during the week of Monday 8 – Sunday 14 February.

Library Lovers’ Day is coordinated by the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA), and aims to raise the profile of the services which libraries offer. Australia’s public libraries provide quality information services that support lifelong learning, significantly impacting the cultural and information industry.
