Goldfields Libraries participate in the national Summer Reading Club each year with the aim of encouraging school aged children to read for pleasure over the long summer break.

All members receive a Summer Reading Club pack and become eligible to win prizes upon reading 10 books.

Gisborne Library will be closed for public safety reasons for one day only on Thursday 22 February during upgrade works.

The works are part of the planned $500,000 upgrade to Gisborne Library funded by the Victorian Government, Macedon Ranges Shire Council and Goldfields Library Corporation.

Works to improve and upgrade Gisborne Library so it better meets the needs of the town’s growing population are about to begin.

The Gisborne Library upgrade will begin on Monday 19 February and works are expected to continue for four months.

The Chinese New Year of the Dog will go off with a bang at Bendigo Library on Thursday 15 February!

In classic Bendigo style, the Central Victorian Lion Team and the Fu Wa Team will bring the library to life with a noisy and spectacular traditional welcome inside the library. The performance is from 5.30-6pm and is not to be missed!

Melbourne-based author, commentator and master speaker Ken Piesse will visit Elmore Library Agency and Bendigo Library to speak about his new book Heroes of the Hour. Ken has written, edited and published more than 70 sports books with a special interest in cricket and Australian Rules football. ­

The new Storytime year is about to begin! Children and their parents or carers are invited to join in the fun of Storytime sessions at Inglewood, Boort and Elmore Library Agencies and Wedderburn and Serpentine Playgroups. Enjoy rhymes, stories and songs presented by a skilled library staff member, tailored for young children up to the age of 5.

Children can tap, swipe and pinch before they can talk or tie their shoelaces, and understandably, parents are worried about the effect it will have on their child’s physical health and development growing up.
