Talking Justice is a thought provoking and enlightening series of public conversations that explore diverse perspectives on what we mean by ‘justice’ in Australian society today. It was created by Loddon Campaspe Community Legal Centre (LCCLC) in 2014 and has become a feature event during Law Week each year.

Brian Carty made a promise to his father Thomas to create a book from his memoirs of life in the Mallee. In May, Brian will visit Wedderburn and Bendigo to launch that book, Giants of the Mallee.

Celebrated local author Susan Green is set to visit Castlemaine and Woodend Libraries, to discuss her latest book How Bright Are All Things Here.

Susan is best known for the award-winning Verity Sparks series for children, but she has recently changed direction with the release of her first novel for adults, a book about art, family, love and secrets.

Romsey, Woodend and Castlemaine Libraries will be welcoming first-time author and biographer Michelle Scott-Tucker in April.

In the midst of juggling a young family, a demanding day job and a blog, Michelle has written her first novel, Elizabeth Macarthur: A Life at the edge of the World, a stunning achievement of storytelling and scholarship.

School aged children are invited to pop into their local library these school holidays to join in some fun, free and educational activities.

“We’re pleased to be able to offer children in the region a varied range of activities to try these school holidays,” said Tammy Higgs, Goldfields Libraries Programs and Events Coordinator.

Goldfields Libraries now offer a home library service to individuals who are unable to visit the library in the Macedon Ranges and Mount Alexander Shires. The service is run by trained volunteers who select library items that reflect the borrower’s preferences, or items the borrower has reserved themselves, and deliver them to their home on a monthly basis.

Gisborne Library will be closed for public safety reasons for two and a half days from Thursday 1 March to Saturday 3 March inclusive for major demolition works.

The works are part of the planned $500,000 upgrade to Gisborne Library funded by the Victorian Government, Macedon Ranges Shire Council and Goldfields Library Corporation.

Maura the Clairvoyant Cruise Ship Librarian is a baby boomer and feisty to boot!  Maura performs at libraries world-wide, but has taken a break from cruising the seas to perform her comedy show chock-full of characters, stories and observations about ageing, caring for elderly family and friends and doing what we can not to get ‘old’!
