It’s “Game On” with the Summer Reading Club!

Wednesday 6 December 2017

Children aged 5-12 years are invited to unleash their imaginations at Goldfields Libraries these school holidays in the annual Summer Reading Club!

Last year the Summer Reading Club was a huge success with over 48,000 children reading more than 333,000 books across Australia! Almost 500 children participated with Goldfields Libraries, reading more than 5,000 books in total – a fantastic effort!

This year those who complete the challenge of reading 10 books will be in the running for great prizes, including local book vouchers, the Guinness Book of Records 2018, GBR Gamer’s Edition, Ripley’s Believe It or Not 2018, and the major regional prize of a brand new iPad.

“This year promises to be the biggest and best yet with the theme of Game On!” said Jess Saunders, Goldfields Library Corporation Acting Programs and Events Coordinator.

“Young readers will be encouraged to engage with a variety of game-related activities as part of our school holiday program, and to share and expand their reading interests by completing a Book Rave for display at their Library,” said Ms Saunders.

Participation in the program is free! Children who register through Goldfields Libraries will receive a Summer Reading Club kit, or alternatively, registrations can be made through the Summer Reading Club website: www.summerreadingclub.org.au

As part of the Summer Reading Club, Bendigo, Castlemaine and Kyneton Libraries will welcome the ever-popular Carp Productions for The Great Toy Contest performance on Friday 12 January. Bookings can be made via: www.ncgrl.vic.gov.au/src

Visit the Goldfields Libraries website for more school holiday activities happening at all branches over the summer holidays.

The Summer Reading Club is a free national holiday program led by the State Library of Queensland in partnership with the Australian Library and Information Association and the Australian Public Library Alliance.

The program runs from Monday 18 December 2017 until Wednesday 31 January 2018 at all branches of Goldfields Libraries and participation is free. For more information visit www.ncgrl.vic.gov.au/src
