COVID-19 Updates 

Libraries are open!

We’re so excited, but we must continue to follow State Government guidelines. This means:

  • Masks must be worn when in the library
  • You must sign in and sanitise on entry*
  • Visitor limits still apply at some libraries
  • Social distancing is a must

Safety remains our top priority, so please don’t visit if you’re unwell.

When visiting the library, you will be able to:

  • Use the free library Wi-Fi
  • Use computers
  • Browse the shelves and borrow items
  • Collect reserves 
  • Return items using return chutes/boxes, where available
  • Print, photocopy, and scan
  • Attend in-person programs and events.

*We will destroy contact tracing records after 28 days and will not use your personal information for any other purpose.

Programs and Events

In-person programs and events have now resumed. This includes Storytime sessions and all one-on-one tech help sessions at many libraries. Please check with your local library to see if these are available in your area.

Please note: Group limits remain in place. If a session you are interested in is booked out, please join the waitlist. As restrictions ease, we may be able to open up more tickets, and those on waitlists will have first preference.

Reservations

Reservations can be made online or over the phone and picked up as usual during opening hours. View your local library's opening hours.

You will be notified by SMS or email when your item(s) are available for collection. You will have 10 days to pick up your item(s) before they are allocated to the next person on the waitlist, or returned to our shelves. 

How to place a Reservation

Home Library Service

Our Home Library Service is available to those who are unable to visit the library themselves. If you are housebound due to illness, frailty, disability etc. you may be eligible for our Home Library Service.

Loans

Loan periods and limits are now back to normal. Items can be borrowed in-person from your local library, or reserved online or over the phone. Scroll up for more information on how to resreve online.

Returns

    Returns chutes and boxes are now open (where these are available). There is now no quarantining period on returned items. Normal loan periods will apply to any new items borrowed, but no overdue fines will be incurred for now.

      Please only return items if you are feeling well.

      Don’t forget, our eLibrary is available to you 24/7 and has lots of wonderful resources.

      Online Programs

      We’re working hard to bring you as much of our usual library programming as possible to your loungeroom. This includes filming Storytimes for kids and sharing online author talks and workshops for adults.

      We're working towards re-introducing in-library programs and events in the new year, but for now, they will remain online.

      Library Membership

      To become a library member you can visit your local branch, or get started online. To get started online, follow the steps below.

      1. Click here to register online
      2. Read and accept the Membership Terms and Conditions
      3. Fill in the new member form
      4. Visit your local library to pick up your library card for immediate, full access to our complete range of services.

      eLibrary (Library in Your Loungeroom)

      Our eLibrary is always open! Browse our extensive collection of online resources in the comfort of your own home - all you need is an internet-connected device and a library card.

      Resources include: Books & Audio eBooks, eAudioBooks, newspapers, magazines, kids activities, family history resources and movies.

      To log into any of our eLibrary resources you need your library card. Most services will ask for your library barcode and PIN. You barcode is found on the back of your library card. For assistance with your PIN, or troubleshooting help please contact your local library – our staff are still here to help!
