Worried about Your Memory?

Monday 7 September 2015

Alzheimer’s Australia’s Carolyne Taplin will present two free sessions at Bendigo Library this Wednesday exploring how memory works and what you can do to maximise your brain health.

According to Alzheimer’s Australia, more than 342,800 Australians are currently living with dementia, and this figure is expected to rise to 400,000 over the next decade. Every week there are 1,700 new cases of dementia diagnosed in Australia.

Ms Taplin’s brain health sessions will provide information on what to look out for with regards to memory loss, and what is of concern. She will give tips on how to help reduce the risks of developing dementia, and ways keep the brain in good condition into the senior years.

Session 1, ‘Worried about your Memory?’, will be held from 1.30-3pm. This session will explore how memory works, including the different types of memory, health factors that can impact on memory function, and when memory difficulties need to be investigated. The session will also provide tips on how to improve your memory and look after your brain.

Session 2, ‘Your Brain Matters’, will be held from 5.30-7pm. This session is for anyone who is interested in learning what they can do to keep their brain healthier as they age and potentially reduce their risk of developing dementia. Participants will learn about the 5 Simple Steps to Maximise Brain Health.

Both sessions are free, and will be held on Wednesday 9 September at Bendigo Library.

Bookings can be made by phoning 5449 2781 or by visiting the Goldfields Libraries website www.ncgrl.vic.gov.au
