Spring has Sprung at Goldfields Libraries

Wednesday 19 August 2015

Goldfields Libraries are celebrating the long awaited arrival of the warmer weather with the new Spring seasonal program, hot off the press.

There is something for everyone this season, ranging from School Holiday and Children’s Week activities, through to Senior’s Week events, with plenty in between.

Goldfields Library Corporation CEO, Chris Kelly said that children will love getting involved in the range of School Holiday activities on offer.

“Many of our children’s activities will have a bright and colourful Spring theme. Castlemaine Children’s Literature Festival is a much loved regional highlight, offering a variety of ways for children to get involved in literature,” said Ms Kelly.

“We are looking forward to welcoming a range of authors to our libraries this Spring, including Australian of the Year Rosie Batty, who will share her new book, A Mother’s Story.”

“History lovers will have the opportunity to meet renowned genealogist Lady Teviot, who will be touring from England during History Week in October.”

Young adults are encouraged to join the newly formed Bendigo Young Writers Association, and to take advantage of designated quiet library spaces to cram for their exams.

A range of environmental activities will be on offer for adults and children, including learning how to make your property more attractive to bees and growing bee flowers.

Seniors will be able to take the opportunity to learn technology tips and tricks from Bendigo South East College year nine students in the Know Your Gizmo pilot program.
