Local Author Ilka Tampke Discusses Debut Novel ‘Skin’

Tuesday 28 April 2015

Woodend based writer Ilka Tampke will be at the Woodend Library this weekend to discuss her debut novel ‘Skin’.

‘Skin’ is set in England very early in the first century AD when Celtic Britain was on the cusp of Roman Invasion.

It follows the story of main character Ailia who is born without ‘Skin’ or connection to a tribe. The novel blends historical fiction with fantasy, when the cosmological world is ruled by the Druids.

Woodend Library Manager Lulu Cockram says ‘Skin’ is a thrilling and exciting debut novel by a local writer.

“It is exciting for us to have a published author visit and talk about their work. It makes it more special when it is a local author.

“We have a very creative community here in Woodend and we enjoy celebrating and promoting their achievements” says Ms Cockram.

Ilka’s debut novel is out now and available through Text Publishing.

Ilka Tampke will be discussing her novel at the Woodend Library Sat 2 May, 10am-11am.

The event is free and bookings can be made by emailing woodend@ncgrl.vic.gov.au or phone the library 5427 2074.
