Join Goldfields Libraries for Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea

Tuesday 10 May 2016

A number of Goldfields Libraries branches will host Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea to raise funds and awareness for those affected by
cancer.

Bendigo Library will welcome special guest Paul Gray to speak at its morning tea on Thursday 26 May at 10.30am. Paul’s wife Kerri battled breast cancer for four years, sadly passing away in 2011, leaving behind Paul and two young children, then aged 7 and 11.

Before her passing, Kerri, affectionately known as Kez, gave Paul the idea of building a house for the Otis Foundation, to help others suffering from breast cancer. Paul is now making Kerri’s vision a reality. A builder by trade, he and his team are constructing “Kez’s Hideaway” in Redesdale, with the help of the Otis Foundation and the local community. Read more about their journey and check the house’s progress at: www.kezshideaway.org.au

Originally established in Bendigo, the Otis Foundation is a national, non-profit charity, providing short-term retreat accommodation to hundreds of breast cancer sufferers across Australia each year. Find out more about the Otis Foundation at: www.otisfoundation.org.au

Gisborne Library will welcome Kerry Pope, a Saravali Society Yoga teacher, to its biggest morning tea on Thursday 26 May at 11am. Kerri will speak to the community about mindful and healthy living, reinforcing issues such as personal health and wellbeing. As well as morning tea, there will be a raffle and a special children’s activity. No bookings required.

Woodend Library’s Biggest Morning Tea will feature a speaker from the Brooke Street Medical Centre, along with raffles, Farmer’s Market hampers, door prizes and a delicious morning tea. Donations of items and vouchers from the Woodend business community are welcome. Bookings are required.

Drop in to Kyneton Library’s Biggest Morning Tea on Thursday 26 May at 10.30am, where you’ll find delicious homemade goodies and a raffle. No bookings required.

Romsey Library held its Biggest Morning Tea recently in April with a crowd of 100 people. Over $1000 was raised for the Cancer Council.

Entry is by gold coin for all events. Bookings are required for some events – visit www.ncgrl.vic.gov.au for details.
