Murder mystery enthusiasts are in for a real treat when renowned Melbourne journalist and writer Gideon Haigh speaks about his new true crime book, Certain Admissions: a Beach, a Body and a Lifetime of Secrets, at Bendigo Library.

Based on real events, the intriguing plot centres around the story of 24 year old Melbourne radio announcer John Bryan Kerr, who was charged with the murder of 20 year old Beth Williams in 1949.

A long time cricket devotee, sportswriter, journalist and author, Gideon has penned over 30 books, the majority of them about cricket.

Bendigo Library Adult Programs Coordinator, Sue Mooney, says that Gideon is also a long established journalist, having worked with many major newspapers, magazines and websites.

“Gideon Haigh is a real coup for Bendigo Library,” says Ms Mooney. “We are delighted to give the community the opportunity to connect with such a well-known literary identity.”

Gideon’s book will be on sale at the event and signings will be available afterwards.

The session is free, and will run on Wednesday 30 September from 6pm-7pm at Bendigo Library.

Bookings are required and can be made by phoning 5449 2781 or by visiting the Goldfields Libraries website www.ncgrl.vic.gov.au
